Hala N. Ballouz, P.E.
Hala N. Ballouz has been a lead consultant in the electric power industry since 1991. She has over 20 years of experience in power systems and energy market.
Ms. Ballouz is also founding partner and director of the Institute of Geotechnics and Materials, International, SARL (IGM), the president of the Texas Renewables Energy Association (TREIA) and currently serves as board member of several organizations. An accomplished industry author and presenter, Ms. Ballouz backs her work with certifications in substation engineering and design as well as wind energy and wind turbines. Additionally, Ms. Ballouz served as expert witness on resource adequacy and transmission grid reliability in California and provides the same expertise in Texas. She is a registered Professional Engineer in several states as well as other countries.
Hugo Mena, P.E.
Vice President of Business Development
As an electrical engineer Hugo Mena has extensive experience in renewable energy integration and design of wind, solar, and energy storage systems. He has worked with renewable energy developers providing support in the generation interconnection and study process. He has experience assisting in the electrical balance of plant installations for projects during construction, commission and testing stage, as well as completing project substation inspections. Additionally, Mr. Mena has extensive experience in completing compliance testing for the demonstration of generation compliance with grid codes.
Billy Yancey III
Vice President of Product Development
Billy Yancey specializes in renewable system design and power flow and transient modeling studies. He is proficient in several power software packages. Mr. Yancey provides skilled Electrical Engineering support in electric grid operation and studies on the integration of renewable energy. He brings extensive experience in technology assessment and in reviewing grid regulatory system and operational protocols and has significant skills and understanding in renewable energy integration into the grid and any interference risk that utility studies must address.
Additionally, Mr. Yancey has extensive experience in completing compliance testing for the demonstration of generation compliance with grid codes.
Vice President of Operations
Stephanie Badr has an in-depth understanding of transmission electrical systems and is skilled in providing efficient measurements to preserve the quality of the transmission networks. She has extensive experience in evaluating feasibility and system impact studies that analyze the prospect of interconnecting generation projects to the transmission grids.
Additionally, she is a continual key player in evaluating generation projects. As such, she provides optimal solutions for interconnecting generation projects and guides projects throughout the interconnection process.
Ken Donohoo, P.E.
Ken Donohoo, has been leading increasingly complex supervisory/management positions focusing on power system planning/analysis, system operations and resource planning. At EPE, Ken leads teams that focus on meeting customer needs related to transmission & distribution system analysis, energy market analysis and grid integration of energy resources, as well as energy storage. Prior to his role at EPE, Ken held the position of Director of Transmission and Distribution planning at Oncor Electric Delivery, and prior to that, Ken was the Director of Transmission Services at ERCOT.
Ken has over 35 years of experience planning the transmission & distribution networks, developing T&D grid codes, interconnection procedures, renewable resources, and new models to support changing technologies. Ken’s knowledge of NERC & ISO codes and regulations make him a valuable addition to any project, in any phase.
