Texas Renewable Energy Industries Alliance (TREIA)’s announced the final lineup for its 3rd Annual GridNEXT conference today, with a focus on moving to a carbon-free and more resilient grid for Texas. The event will be held October 23 & 24 at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center in the 100% renewable energy city of Georgetown, Texas. (EPE) is pleased to announce and welcome Ken Donohoo, P.E. as a company Director, leading aggressive growth in power systems consulting services.  Ken will be particularly focused on utility (T&D) and independent system operator (ISO) related system planning, operations and grid modernization projects.

 

Ken comes with more than 35 years of experience leading teams and power systems planning/implementation.  Recently serving as Director, Assets Planning, Distribution and Transmission at Oncor Electric Delivery Co LLC.  Prior to Oncor, Ken worked at ERCOT assisting with planning, generation interconnect and wholesale and retail markets.

The Caribbean Electric Utility Servies Corporation (CARILEC) Engineers Conference is the preeminent engineering conference for the utility industry in the Caribbean and Latin America.

EPE’s  itinerary includes moderating a panel on Staging The Roadmap To Renewable Energy Integration on Wednesday, July 26th.

The following day, EPE’s Vice President Billy Yancey III will be leading the Renewable Integration and Forecasting in Island Networks Workshop and our CEO Hala Ballouz will be leading the Caribbean Smart Grid Working Group meeting.

Dr. Susan Pope of FTI Consulting: Insights on Maintaining a Competitive Edge in ERCOT

The GCPA Luncheon at LCRA Environmental Research Laboratory, in Austin, Texas was a success.

The guest speaker, Dr. Susan Pope, shared her outlook on the idea that adjustments are needed to ensure market stability due to a large influx of renewable energy with artificially low pricing, combined with an aging fleet of thermal generation.

Dr. Pope has earned her undergraduate and Ph.D. from Harvard Business School. She has been specializing in the economic and public policy analysis of energy markets, advising clients on design, improvement, and performance of bid-based electricity spot markets, capacity, markets, and ancillary service markets for over 20 years. Today she is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting – a global multi-disciplinary business advisory firm.
