Over the last 20 years, the electrical power industry has seen a significant increase in distributed generation installations consisting primarily of wind, solar, geothermal and biomass renewable sources. The geographic location of these new generation technologies, located at or near the point of interconnection, provide the opportunity for increased grid efficiencies, availability, and reliability. However, to fully realize the benefits, distributed resources must be designed and integrated into the overall bulk power grid in a way that minimizes generator contribution to undesirable effects on existing grid assets and operation. This requires generators to design, test and commission systems in accordance with uniform regulatory criteria. Case Study

Horse Creek Wind IT & C

  • Updated and assisted in the submission of the Resource Asset Registration Forms (RARF) of the Horse Creek Wind through the ERCOT Market Information System (MIS) site
  • Completed the commissioning plan narrative for the project is accordance with ERCOT’s latest Interconnection Handbook
  • Completed and provided technical support during the Lagging/Leading reactive power tests, Primary Frequency Response (PFR) andAutomatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) tests
  • Performed a generator/grid frequency scan to determine any potential resonant points that may coincide with the grid side frequency scan
